Seed Library

Our seed library is housed in the Youth and Teen Services Department and was launched in 2015 with the help of Ball Seed, Seed Savers Exchange, and the Tri-Village Garden Club.

Here’s how it works:

  1. TAKE SEEDS
Visit the Youth & Teen Services Department to see what seeds are available.  Check out this year's collection!

  2. GROW SEEDS
Take seeds home and grow them!
Look for packets labeled “Easy” if you’re new to gardening, and “Experienced” for the more difficult plants to grow and save seed from.

  3. RETURN SEEDS
If you have a successful season resulting in strong, healthy plants, save the seeds!  You can start your own collection at home and save seed for next year’s growing season.  You can also share them with other gardeners by donating to our collection.   If you’re interested in donating, please fill out a “Seed Donation” form with as much information as possible for the next gardener.

Please note that we only accept saved seed from heirloom or open-pollinated plants and do not knowingly accept genetically modified, hybrid, or patented seeds. Our goal is to one day be fully sustainable through donations and create a collection that is specific to our region.

Visit the library for more information and resources on how to grow and save seed!
