Circulation Associate

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for high quality customer service at the public desks
  • Work with patrons to resolve problems with patron accounts
  • Assist patrons with technology questions and computer access within the library
  • Process library card registrations
  • Accept payments for fines and fees
  • Answer incoming calls and route calls to other departments
  • Retrieve the outdoor book return
  • Check in all returned material and process items on hold
  • Shelve library material onto carts and throughout the library
  • Perform opening and closing procedures for the lobby area of the library

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Customer service experience required and library experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable of computers and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and adopt new technology
  • Flexible mindset and team player; willingness to adjust duties or schedule if needed
  • Patience and good listening skills, paired with ability to focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to shelve books and move heavy book carts by bending, stretching, and maneuvering these objects to access shelving

Pay / Hours

  • $15.00/hour
  • Part-time, 14.75 hours/week
  • Schedule:
    • Schedule 1:
      • Week 1: Sunday 11:30am-5pm, Monday 5pm-9pm, Thursday 5pm-9pm
      • Week 2: Monday 5pm-9pm, Thursday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 8:30am-5pm
    • Schedule 2:
      • Week 1: Monday 5pm-9pm, Wednesday 5pm-9pm, Saturday 8:30am-5pm
      • Week 2: Sunday 11:30am-5pm, Monday 5pm-9pm, Wednesday 5pm-9pm
