Graphic Designer/Public Relations Assistant
Primary Responsibilities
Public Relations
- Assist in creating and managing the Library's social media content as needed
- Proofread content for the department to produce accurate and high-quality work
- Attend community events to promote and publicize Library's services, materials, and programs
- Assist with developing and implementing large scale Library events
- Assist with pursuing partnership opportunities between the Library and other entities
- Assist with writing various articles and press releases for the Library's newsletter, local newspapers, and other publications as needed
- Assist with ordering promotional supplies as needed
- Seasonally decorate the Library as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Graphic Design
- Produce Library newsletter which includes layout of graphics, photographs, text, and mailing
- Creates e-newsletters highlighting current programs
- Communicate with various departments to understand their graphic needs for various projects
- Work with PR Manager to think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts for the Library's marketing communications which includes posters, brochures, signage, banners, flyers, bookmarks, website graphics, and other graphics and artwork
- Manage inventory of graphic designer's materials and recommend new equipment, software, and display material needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- At least two (2) years of experience in marketing, public relations, communication, or a related field.
- Proficient in Adobe Suite
- Ability to think creatively and work flexibly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of rules of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Ability to interact positively and effectively with patrons and co-workers of all backgrounds
- Ability to develop relationships with the public
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision
- Ability to proactively prioritize tasks and projects for successful implementation
- Good time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work with detail and deadlines
- Excellent judgment and discretion in handling library matters
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to learn, adapt, and adopt new technology
Salary and Schedule
- $21.93-27.42/hour
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, with occasional nights and weekends

Physical Demand/Work Environment
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
The job is performed in a typical office environment and includes interaction with the public in a library setting.
Must be able to travel to places in the community for meetings, trainings, outreach, and community events.
