Youth Services Librarian

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement programs of interest to the community, with a focus on preschool, kindergarten, and outreach
  • Provide reference and readers’ advisory assistance
  • Participate in the collection development process by maintaining budget, selecting, and weeding materials in assigned areas
  • Provide instructions on Library’s digital offerings and e-sources to patrons and staff
  • Keep current on age appropriate materials for youth
  • Create attractive and interesting displays and bibliographies
  • Stay current regarding library technology and trends
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Library Science
  • Experience working with children required
  • Library experience in Youth Services preferred
  • Ability to work with children in an individual and group setting
  • Open-minded and flexible team player

Salary / Classification / Hours

  • $22.95-25.48/hour, depending on qualifications
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, non-exempt
  • Days, evenings, and weekends

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds
