School Library Card

A school Library card allows authorized individuals to borrow materials to supplement their curriculum.  The principal of the school completes an application each school year that includes a list of authorized users.  The card is kept on file at the Library.

Classroom Collections

Teachers may check out up to twenty items for their classroom. (We reserve the right to limit the amount of materials requested on one topic.)  Please remember, the Library can only be a supplementary source of materials for your classroom. If you would like our assistance in selecting materials, place your request in advance by calling Youth & Teen Services or by filling out our Classroom Collections Request Form. We will be better able to meet your needs with advance notice. Materials will be held for pick up.

Assignment Alerts

Assignment Alerts give the Library a clear understanding of class assignments and allow us to select appropriate materials for in-house use.  Materials are kept on an assignment shelf for the duration of the assignment. Assignment Alerts may be given by phone, in person or by filling out our Assignment Alert Form. Reserving items assures that materials will be available for your students.  We can also create bibliographies for classes that need materials on a certain subject or genre.

Class Visits and Tours

Please call the Library in advance to schedule a Library orientation, storytime, book talk, or a presentation to coordinate with class topics.  You may also schedule librarians to visit your classroom. Call Youth & Teen Services for more information at 630.837.3348.

The computer lab is available for Library related hands-on instruction of the Library’s catalog and other online resources.  Please call in advance to book a class visit with a librarian.  The Library also offers WiFi access and public computers for Microsoft Office and Internet.  There is a fee for printing.

The staff will be happy to answer any questions and assist you and your students with the many resources available at the Library.  We look forward to hearing from you.
