IPAD USE POLICY
The purpose of the use of the iPad is to encourage early literacy; therefore, the iPad is for exclusive use of families with children under the age of 12.
A Library iPad Use Agreement must be signed by the user. The borrower is responsible for the iPad until it is checked in by the library staff. iPads may only be used in the Youth Services Department and cannot be removed from the second floor.
What is needed to check out an iPad?

Valid (not expired) identification:
- A Bartlett Public Library District card,
- A card from another library registered with the Bartlett Public Library District
- Government-issued photo ID, such as a Driver’s License.
- A signed iPad Use Agreement.
- Potential borrowers must be 18 years of age or older.
- Less than a total of $15 in fees on the borrower’s account.
How long may a Library iPad be used?
- iPads are available on a first-come, first-served basis for up to two hours per day. No reservations will be accepted.
Where may a Library iPad be used?
- iPads may only be used in the Youth Services Department and cannot be removed from the second floor. Removal of a Library iPad from Library premises will be considered theft and the Library will contact suitable authorities to resolve the issue.
How to log onto a Library iPad
- Start the iPad using the “lock” button found on the top-right edge of the device.
Where to go for help using the Library iPad
- Any of the Youth Librarians will be able to help with using a Library iPad. It is expected, however, that the borrower has general iPad knowledge and will be able to perform most basic iPad functions.
Internet Access
- Internet access is provided through the Library’s wireless system.
- Internet access at the Library is subject to our Internet Policy. Please visit the Bartlett library web site to view this policy.
Other iPad facts:
- The borrower will be charged for damage caused to the iPad or case.
- The iPad is a shared resource. Any photos or other data left stored on the device will be accessible to subsequent users. Web logins may persist unless the borrower explicitly logs out. It is recommended that borrowers use only the preinstalled educational apps.
- At checkout, the borrower is responsible for ensuring that the iPad is working, that there is no damage to the case, and that all accessories are included.
- The iPad must not be left unattended.
- Apps must not be reorganized or deleted from the iPad.
- The borrower must not let anyone else use the iPad that is checked out to them.
- If using sound, the volume must be adjustable to suitable levels.
- Any hardware or software problems must be reported to a Youth Librarian.
- The latest that an iPad can be checked out is 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 5:00 p.m. Friday, or 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- iPads must be returned fifteen minutes before the building closes.
