Hotspots Available in the Library
Six hotspots are available for check out from the Bartlett Public Library District. Get one to do homework on the go, get internet for yourself in the great outdoors, and more. The hotspot produces a WiFi network to connect multiple wireless devices to the internet.
What do I need to check out a mobile hotspot?
- A valid unexpired Bartlett Public Library District card.
- The borrower must be at least 18 years of age.
- A library account in good standing, with less than $15.00 in charges.
- No other hotspots checked out on the account - only one hotspot may be borrowed on an account at one time.
Replacement Costs and Late Fees
- The full replacement cost of $62.00 will be charged for a lost or broken device.
- Lost or broken components such as the charger or charging cable will result in a replacement charge of $10.
- Late charges are $0.25/day
Internet Access
- Internet services rely on cell tower technology and coverage. User experience may vary based on geographical location.
- The connection to the internet via the hotspot is unfiltered.
- The Bartlett Public Library District is not responsible for personal information shared over the internet, information or websites accessed, or actions taken by users of the Library's hotspots. Hotspot users are encouraged to use safe Internet practices.
- Use of the hotspot to access content considered to be illegal or obscene according to federal, state, or municipal law will result in revocation of hotspot borrowing privileges and potential criminal prosecution.
- The Bartlett Public Library District cannot guarantee the security of any WiFi network, including the hotspot's connection. Users are urged to use caution when transmitting sensitive information.
- These devices are not intended for intensive video streaming or as a replacement for a home internet connection. Throttling may occur if you use significant amounts of data.
Further information
- Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Hotspots may be checked out for up to three weeks. If no one is on hold for the device, they can be renewed up to two times.
- Usage outside the Chicagoland area of Illinois is prohibited. Any fees associated with use outside of this area will be the responsibility of the borrower, provided the hotspot even functions there.
- Hotspots must be kept in a temperature-controlled environment, not left in vehicles or otherwise exposed to extreme temperatures.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for the use of the hotspot by minors.
- If the hotspot is not returned within three days of its due date, its data will be deactivated.
- Deliberate alteration or modification of Library-owned equipment or its configuration is strictly prohibited.
- Please return the hotspot and all parts directly to a staff member at the Circulation Desk at the Bartlett Public Library District. Any damage caused by dropping the hotspot into the book drop or during transit from other libraries will be the responsibility of the borrower.

Neither the Library nor the internet service provider track information about your internet usage. The Library only collects the following data about the hotspot program:
- Total amount of data transmitted and received by each device during a billing cycle.
- Anonymous circulation data related to checkouts of the hotspot devices
